For doctors, pharmacists and academics

Let’s verify CBD information together

cbd.school is an independent guide that explains the research on CBD in plain English, with its sources and the strength of evidence. We want to complete this work through the eyes of recognized experts in their fields.

What's on this page?

What we believe

  1. Accurate information is everyone’s right.

The answer a patient, a mother or a pharmacist is looking for shouldn’t be locked behind a paywalled article or a paid database. Our guide is free, in plain language, and open to everyone.

  2. Awareness grows as education becomes accessible.

Most of the confusion about CBD comes not from a lack of information but from wrong or incomplete information. A plain, sourced and consistent explanation strengthens both the reader and the doctor who listens to them.

  3. The strength of evidence stands next to every result.

It’s easy to say something “works”; showing what that rests on takes effort. On every topic page we put the result side by side with the strength of evidence, the study table and the sources.

  4. We don’t sell false hope.

We don’t sell products, we don’t promote brands, and we take no advertising or sponsorship money. We don’t give personal dose advice. When we guide people who are looking for treatment, we don’t exploit their hope.

  5. Knowledge is alive, and we update with it.

We scan for new studies every day and check for retracted publications every week. When our assessment of a topic changes, we say clearly on the page what changed and why.

  6. An expert’s eye completes this work.

However carefully we read the sources, it can’t replace the view of an expert who has spent years in the clinic and the lab. That’s why we’re inviting you.

What’s in the guide today

Behind these numbers is a working infrastructure: an evidence tracker that scans PubMed, Europe PMC and official agencies every day, a system that checks every week whether publications in the guide have been retracted, an interaction tool that assesses use alongside your medication, and a three-dimensional endocannabinoid system map that shows the body’s cannabinoid receptors with sources. Our summary page for health professionals: For clinicians.

How you can contribute

Reviewer

A few hours per topic

You read a topic page in your field, its study table and its strength of evidence, and write your corrections and comments.

Topic editor

About an hour a month

You take ownership of a topic. We assess together the new studies our evidence tracking finds on that topic.

Advisory board

A few meetings a year

You advise on our strength-of-evidence method, our editorial policy and the choice of new topics.

Academy

Per module

You write or review training modules for doctors, pharmacists and students.

Who can apply

This is not a volunteer list; it is an expert board. A diploma alone isn’t enough: our readers trust us because every sentence rests on a source that has been read and assessed correctly. That’s why our criteria are open and verifiable.

Minimum requirements (all are required)

  1. Legal title and professional registrationA medical or pharmacy degree valid in Turkey and registration with the relevant professional chamber; if you hold a specialist title, a specialty certificate recognized under Turkish regulations. For academics, a doctorate and a faculty position (active or retired) in medicine, pharmacy, pharmacology or a related basic science.
  2. Fit with your fieldThe topic you review must match your field. For example, epilepsy pages are reviewed by neurologists, drug interactions by clinical pharmacologists or clinical pharmacists, and cancer support pages by oncology or palliative care specialists. You won’t be asked to review a topic outside your field.
  3. IndependenceIf you have had a paid or ownership relationship in the last 3 years with a company that makes, distributes or sells cannabis or CBD products, you cannot assess that topic. People who recommend products or brands or share sales links in any channel are not accepted.
  4. Clean professional recordNo disciplinary action from a professional body or your institution in the last 5 years for advertising, misleading promotion or publication ethics (self-declared; asked at the interview).

Scientific qualifications

Reviewers and Academy contributors need at least one of the following; topic editors need at least two; the advisory board also requires the title of associate professor or professor, or more than 10 years of experience in the field:

  • at least 3 peer-reviewed publications indexed in PubMed (at least 1 as first, last or corresponding author),
  • at least 5 years of clinical, hospital pharmacy or community pharmacy experience after specialty training or licensure,
  • having been among the authors of a national or international clinical guideline, systematic review or meta-analysis.

Other health professions (nurses, dietitians, physical therapists, etc.) may apply only for the Academy, and only for topics within their own scope of practice.

How acceptance works

The deciding step for acceptance is the trial review, and it is required for everyone. We send you a topic page from the guide in your field and three studies selected from it. You read the studies at their source and assess the result and the strength of evidence shown on the page. We read your assessment against four criteria:

Grounding in sourcesEvery judgment must rest on a study you have read, with its PMID or DOI.
Reading the evidence correctlyCorrectly assessing the study design, sample size, comparison group and the real size of the result.
Seeing the limitationsNot overlooking risk of bias, sponsorship, short follow-up or generalizability.
Measured languageNot saying more than the evidence supports; plain English the reader can understand.

About AI tools: You may use helper tools while writing or searching for sources; we do too. But responsibility for the assessment is yours: you must have read every study you cite yourself. A source that doesn’t exist, a finding the study doesn’t report, or a wrong citation is on its own a reason for rejection. The same rule applies after you are accepted.

  • Today the founder makes the acceptance decision; once the advisory board is formed, the board will. If an application isn’t accepted, we write a short explanation.
  • Titles, professional registration and publications are verified from official and public sources (professional chamber registry, YÖK Akademik, the Turkish academic registry, PubMed, ORCID); information that can’t be verified is not accepted.
  • Acceptance is not permanent: reviews are re-examined once a year. A hidden conflict of interest, a fabricated source or using your name for advertising ends the collaboration; from that date on, your name no longer appears on new pages.

How your contribution appears

  • The page you reviewed shows your name, your field, the review date and what you reviewed (for example, “study table and strength of evidence”). Your name never appears on work you didn’t do.
  • You get a profile page on the site listing the topics you reviewed, with links to your ORCID and publication profile.
  • Each year we plan to publish the guide’s “CBD evidence update” as a citable publication (with a DOI); experts who contributed actively that year are listed among its authors.
  • Search engines and AI tools read expert review of health content as a signal of a source’s trustworthiness. Our pages report this information with standard structured data (schema.org); your review is recorded not only on the page but also in the layer these tools read.

Our promise to you

  • Your name never appears next to any product, brand or seller; it is never used for advertising, promotion or fundraising.
  • No text is published under your name without your approval. If you disagree with an assessment, we correct it or state the disagreement openly.
  • Your profile includes no practice, pharmacy, appointment or contact information; we never present you in a way that would conflict with your professional rules.
  • You can leave at any time without giving a reason; your name is removed within 7 days at the latest.

What we ask of you

  • A source-based assessment within your own field.
  • Openly declaring any relationships with companies that sell cannabis or CBD products (conflict-of-interest statement).
  • Keeping unpublished drafts between us.
  • We discuss payment and the way we work together in the interview; for academics, we follow a route that fits their institution’s rules.

Process

  1. ApplicationYou fill in the form on this page. We don’t ask for documents at this stage.
  2. Initial reviewWe verify your title, professional registration and publications from official and public sources; if an application doesn’t meet the minimum requirements, we write back with the reason.
  3. Trial reviewRequired for everyone. You read the studies we choose from a real topic page at their source and assess them.
  4. Interview and agreementYou meet with the founder; a review agreement and a conflict-of-interest statement are signed, and your documents are seen at this stage.
  5. PublicationThe page you reviewed shows your name, the review date and what you reviewed.

Frequently asked questions

Does joining cost anything, and do you pay reviewers?

We never charge anything to apply or to take part. Payment for reviews and the way we work together are discussed in the interview; for academics, payment can only be made in a way that follows their institution’s rules.

Do I need to send a diploma or documents when I apply?

No. The application form doesn’t ask for documents, a diploma or an ID number. We verify your title, professional registration and publications from official and public sources; your documents are seen at the interview stage.

What is the trial review, and how long does it take?

You read three studies selected from a topic page in your field at their source and assess the result and the strength of evidence shown on the page. It usually takes a few hours and is required for everyone.

Can I use AI tools?

You can use them as helpers, but you must have read every study you cite yourself. A source that doesn’t exist, a finding the study doesn’t report, or a wrong citation is on its own a reason for rejection.

How does my name appear on the site, and will it be used for advertising?

The page you reviewed shows your name, your field, the review date and what you reviewed. Your name never appears next to any product, brand or seller, and it is never used for advertising, promotion or fundraising. Your profile includes no practice, pharmacy or appointment information.

Can I apply if I have ties to a company that sells cannabis products?

You can apply, but if you have had a paid or ownership relationship with such a company in the last 3 years, you cannot assess that topic. People who recommend products or brands or share sales links are not accepted.
